Argus Infrared Spark Detectors

The Argus Infrared Spark Detector is a highly effective and reliable system with over 100,000 installations worldwide. It detects sparks or embers at speeds from 150mm to 60 meters per second, with a patented ability to distinguish between hazardous embers and non-threatening static discharges. This unique and effective system reduces the cost and operational impact of the system.

Argus Control Panels

Argus Fire Control Panels are designed with all the features necessary for high speed fire detection, suppression, and control. The dust-proof and moisture-proof construction assures trouble free operation in industrial environments. The panels have features such as individual zone disconnect switches, individual reset switches, and supervised detection, alarm, and extinguisher circuits.

Argus Fire Suppression Systems

Fire suppressing systems are installed near protected hazards using a piping network. They can be used with FM-200 clean agent, dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide gas, or water. These systems protect machinery from fire without cleanup after discharge. Dry chemical systems are used in volatile applications where refill costs are high but fire expansion risks are high. The ember is quickly detected and extinguished, resulting in minimal damage.

AFM-200/HFC-227 "Virgin Gas" Refill Service

Argus Fire Control is an authorized distributor of DuPont FM-200 Fire Suppression Gas, offering refill services for most system and tank manufacturers. The gas, also known as FE-227, HFC-227, or HFC-227ea, is all HFC-227ea. They provide competitive pricing on "virgin" FM-200 gas, offering emergency and standard refill services.

Diverter based systems

The Argus AD-50eC is a digitally programmable system that provides automatic protection from metal contaminants and fire hazards in automatic spinning and nonwoven mills. It removes metal without interrupting production, detects, diverts, and extinguishes hazardous embers, and shuts down machinery to isolate threats. With a 50 millisecond reaction time, it can detect and divert particles moving up to 33 meters per second.

The Argus AD-50eS High Speed Spark Diverting System includes all the fire suppression systems as the AD-50eC without the metal diverting capabilities. Typically installed before card lines and large cell blenders, the AD-50eS offers a safeguard to systems with a higher refilling cost. Available with FM-200 or Water Spray systems, the compact design of the AD-50eS requires only 5 feet (1.5 meters) of space in the duct line. The high speed 50 millisecond reaction time ensures that sparks are diverted and extinguished before the fire can spread to any downstream machinery.

Argus PDG-33 Dry Chemical System

The Argus PDG-33 Dry Chemical Fire Suppressing System is a stored pressure dry chemical system for use in textile filtration hazards. The bicarbonate based extinguishing agent (called plus 50 B) has for years been found as the most efficient and cost effective fire suppressant for the very large and volatile filter systems in today's textile mills. The Argus PDG-33 system was designed to operate in harsh industrial environments and is backed by a one year Argus warranty.

Water Spray System

Argus Fire Control offers the woodworking and dust collection industry an affordable water spray system to protect valuable filters and machinery and avoid costly production down time. The Argus PulseFire water spray system is specifically designed to protect woodworking dust collection systems. The system was designed to operate in harsh industrial environments and is backed by a one-year Argus warranty. The Argus water-spray system is easy to operate and easy to maintain. The self-diagnostic circuitry in the Argus Pulsefire-2 Control Panel is fully supervised and will provide both a visible and audible alert should a problem occur.

How the System Works

• The Argus Pulse Infrared Spark Detector continually scans all particles in the duct as it searches for a spark.
• When a spark passes the detector, it sends a signal to the control panel, which simultaneously activates the water spray solenoid valve.
• Water spray fills the duct within 325 milliseconds after the spark is detected.

• The water spray solenoid valve continues to operate for a pre-programmed number of seconds after each spark passes the detector. This insures that all sparks in the duct are drawn through the water curtain and extinguished. The valve then automatically closes to prevent excessive water build-up in the ducts.
